One's Alter Ego!!
Updated: Aug 6
Everyone has a mind, with both a conscious and sub-conscious sides. Ego is something which is a part of our mind. Therefore we can say, everyone has an ego. The only difference is some got bigger ones.
That part of the mind which mediates between the conscious and unconscious mind and also is responsible for reality testing and sense of personal identity. In simpler words, a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance.
The thing is, having too less ego or too much of it is actually bad. Everything needs to balance.
Now, Alter Ego in just two words means “Second I”. It is not common to have an alter ego but it is plausible. Anyone can have it. It can be different or totally opposite of your original personality. Two people may not have the same alter ego. And we cannot simply pick or say our alter ego. Alter egos are based upon a person’s secondary nature.
Many famous personalities have altered ego, a famous comic character such as Superman, Batman etc. are based upon alter egos.
Having an alter ego is not a bad thing, it is not a cool thing either, but it shows us the self-importance and self-esteem of our alternate self. Now, if we want to ever know what our alter ego looks like we have to get to know ourselves better, specifically our alternate self.
Some might ask. What is the big deal about this alternate self? Well, the majority of people around us see our true self and know less about our alternate self, and the interesting part is sometimes we also might not actually know what our alternate self is.
We have seen people with big ego issues, and they have it no matter what social or economic status they are in.
Like I said too less or too much of it is bad, saying the same thing for alter ego might actually be incorrect, because some may still not know what there alter ego is even if they have one. And some fully change from their true self to the alternate one, so distinguishing their alter egos is actually tough.
Finding oneself is actually great, it helps them to better understand themselves, the great advantage of a balanced ego is that you have good self-esteem and can be helpful and strong in times of hardship.
Like a great man once said, “Ego is a social fiction for which one person at a time gets all the blame”.
“People change and often they become the person they said they will never be”
Finally, WonderBoy is my alter ego. It means, he says the things that I can’t say.
Find yourself, find your ALTER EGO!!
So until we meet next time, Godspeed my friend.
